The Redemption Scholars documentary film follows the lives of three previously incarcerated men as they adjust to re-entering society, work to build a new life, mend old pains, attain higher education, and find redemption. Director Lauryn Whitney ushers the audience along this journey through intimate interviews, round table talks, and a real look at the men’s day-to-day triumphs and trials. This revolutionary documentary explores the different issues that contribute to the incarceration of black and brown bodies, the systems that fail us, educational tools to create systemic change, while allowing the audience to reflect on personal perceptions that create imprisonment.
