Out in the Streets: LGBTQ Skateboarders
CAUSE: Gender Equality, Human Rights , Empowering Women & Girls, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
PROJECT DIRECTOR: Skeith
DeWine
Artist Skeith DeWine's latest project "Out In The Streets" sheds light on the members of the LGBTQ skateboarding community through painting, drawing, photography, and film. The main objective of his project is to make others aware of LGBTQ athletes in skateboarding and telling their stories through fine art. Along with the athletes themselves, DeWine plans to showcase allies within skateboarding communities -- those who have broken down racial, social, and economic barriers through their acceptance of the LGBTQ athletes in their community. There is a new generation of LGBTQ individuals making a name for themselves in skateboarding and this project is setting out to help create change within skateboarding and the global sports community.
