Remembering Norman Lear

Norman Lear changed the world. He changed it for the better, and he changed it for good.

Today we reflect on the life, legacy, and impact of the revolutionary career of 101-year-old Norman Lear, who Creative Visions had the distinct pleasure of sitting down with in October 2022 for a conversation led by movie director Jon Turteltaub. Through the television sitcom, a medium that previously had been reserved for goofy shows, Norman Lear told stories for real American families dealing with relevant and undiscussed issues. This forever altered the way we see our entertainment, our politics, our society, and ourselves.

Norman Lear was a pioneer and his contributions will never be forgotten. His jubilant spirit was unmatched, and his work as a storyteller will be felt for generations to come. At the spry age of 100, Norman Lear joined Jon Turteltaub at the Moss Theater at New Roads School to look at what inspired Norman’s career - what influences made him who he was, how he changed who we are, what in television is going well, what’s not, what takes courage to fix, what takes comedy to fix, and how each of us can make a bigger difference than we think.
