SUCCESS! Hilde Back Education Fund
The Hilde Back Education Fund (HBEF) continues to keep students in school, where they are not only taught vital life skills, but also the importance of psychological and social motivation.Hannah Waruingi is the Finance Officer at the Hilde Back Education Fund. Hannah pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in International Business Administration, Finance option at the United States International University in Africa (USIU) and graduated in August 2010.
Hannah attended Kambui Girls’ High School and attained a B Plain grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Examination. Hannah studied Finance because she has a passion for investments and having the knowledge will help her to encourage people to live responsibly by caring and investing for the future. Hannah hopes to return to college and pursue the Certified Financial Accountants Course this year.
Nancy Njeri Kamunyu is currently in her First Year at the University of Nairobi undertaking a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance. Nancy graduated from Kijabe Girls’ High School in 2006 with a B- (Minus) in KCSE. After Form Four, Nancy volunteered in a local NGO in her community called CODEF teaching children life skills and then worked part-time in a retail and wholesale job. She used the money she got from her job at the shop to enroll in accounting classes at the Visions Institute of Professional Studies. When she is not in school, Nancy works as a volunteer in the HBEF Sponsorship Programme.
Stephen Mathu is currently volunteering in the Sponsorship Programme at HBEF but is hoping to join the University of Nairobi later on this year to pursue a degree in Public Administration. Stephen attained a C+ in KCSE. When he is not at HBEF, Peter is at the Institute of Advanced Technology (IAT) studying International Computer Driving License (ICDL).
