CAP Summit 2015 Recap

Every year the CAP Team looks forward to the Summit – it’s one of our favorite events. Not only does it serve as a day for our CAP members to learn from industry leaders, but it also allows our tribe to reconnect with one another as a community of creative activists. Below is a little recap of how the day went:

A leader in creative activism, Roko Belic, kicked off our day as the keynote speaker. Roko is a longtime member of the Creative Visions tribe, and a seasoned filmmaker. He shared some thoughts on how happiness connects to the type of work that our CAP members do, and we consider him to be an expert, as he is an Alumni with his hit documentary HAPPY!

After our keynote speaker, Sarah-Jane Murray reminded us that we are hardwired for story, and that the best tool to pitch work is to simply connect with others on a human level. Our CAP members are storytellers, yet sometimes the most difficult story to tell is their own. Sarah-Jane encouraged the crowd to ditch the out-of-breath elevator pitch for a passionate story that prompts lasting relationships. Cheers to that!

Powerhouse Geralyn Dreyfous, co-founder of Impact Partners, sat down with our President Trevor Hall to share secrets of investors. Through Impact Partners, Geralyn connects philanthropists with high impact media makers and had thirteen films at Sundance Film Festival in 2015. She’s a woman in high-demand, and we were honored to share her wisdom with our community.

We recently made the transition to the online donation platform, Classy so it was only fitting that Classy representatives Arin and Abby made the trip from San Diego to present the tools and perks that the platform has to offer. We’re thrilled to introduce this service to our community and they even brought presents for our CAP members! Wendy Cohen, co-founder of Picture Motion, guided us through the process of gaining strategic partnerships for a film’s social impact campaign. With projects such as Racing Extinction, Fed Up, and Food Chains under her belt, we completely trusted her expertise.

Lastly, and in true Creative Visions fashion, we wrapped the day with a kick-ass Sundowner! Doors were opened for our Creative Activist Network, Mentors, and Board of Directors to celebrate a successful day. Big thanks to our sponsors Ninkasi for the beer and AmigoBooth for the memories!
